OMG it’s Monday: Cooking with Characters

I did a guest blog a few weeks ago to promote a new cookbook by the hot Aussie Dan Churchill. The assignment was to have my HISTORICAL characters cook and enjoy one of his recipes. The blog ended up so cute, I thought (as I’m recovering from RT) that I’d send it out to all of you.   Trevor Anaedsley, future duke of Timby, stood non-plused in a location beyond his ken. It was a bright place with steel fixtures and white counter tops. And in the middle of it was his lovely wife, Mellie whistling as she did something with foodstuffs.             It’s a dream, she said before he could ask. You must be hungry because I’m cooking.             Cooking, he gasped appalled. We have a cook for that.             I know, but I wanted to try something new.             Cooking? he repeated flabbergasted. Why?             She looked up …

OMG, It’s Monday with Jade Lee: Jade Lee has gone NUTS!

So why am I going NUTS today? It’s Monday. Of course I’m nuts. I always read reviews on Monday. Duh. Of course I’m insane. Today is my last day at this age. Tomorrow I age another year. EEK! Tomorrow is Release Day for 50 Ways to Ruin a Rake  Answer: 4  And yes, Monday is a nuts days, but it’s a eyes-glued-shut kind of day as I mainline coffee and try to orient to the week. (Doesn’t work since I switched to de-caf). I try to avoid reading reviews in general, and I wouldn’t start the week off on that note. OMG, what if someone didn’t like my book? Ack!  Tomorrow is indeed my birthday and I’m not going to tell you how old I am. It’s too depressing. So the big deal?  Tomorrow is release day for the funniest book I’ve ever written. Why is 50 Ways to Ruin …

OMG it’s Monday w/Jade Lee: The Problem with Deadlines

Everyone hates deadlines, right? It does have the word dead in it. Wouldn’t it be marvelous if we always had as much time as possible to get a task done? That way everything would be done to the best of our ability in the best possible way. Right? Let’s find out if that’s true for me. I recently learned that I have two extra months on my next manuscript deadline. Let’s start with why I got extra months. Scheduling shift. A few extra months magically appeared. I’m such a marvelous writer, Sourcebooks wanted me to feel appreciated and gifted it to me. I’m such a terrible writer, Sourcebooks decided to force me to take more time to make the next book perfect. I’m an idiot, forgot the REAL deadline, and imagined a wrong one. Answer: 1 and 4.  Yeah, I’d like to think that is was just a scheduling shift and …

OMG it’s Monday w/Jade Lee: Guess what I’ve been doing all WEEK!

My twitter followers already know where I am. But go ahead and guess. No where. I never go anywhere. I just sit here and write blogs all day. Antarctica. Because who doesn’t like penguins? Miami. Beautiful weather, hot bods on the beach. Who doesn’t love Florida? Tennessee. Can you say Dollywood? Answer: 4. I’m at a writing retreat in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, hope of Dollywood. Sadly, we have not been able to visit the theme park, but have been writing up a storm in a beautiful cabin. Who’s we? Cindy Dees, Elizabeth Hoyt, and L J Bradach awesome authors all of them. Here’s a picture of me and Elizabeth Hoyt next to Santa’s butt. Why? Why not? What’s coming up for me? More writing. Duh. I’m particularly buried in blogs right now. Dinner and dancing with my writing buds. Barbara Vey’s Luncheon! http://barbaraveyreaders.com/ 50 Ways to Ruin a Rake!  Releasing …

OMG, It’s Monday w/Jade Lee #12

Did Jade get Perspective? NAH!  Two early reviews for 50 Ways to Ruin a Rake came in this week, both from organizations I respect. One was glowing, the other hated the book. I responded by Becoming bipolar, bouncing between elation and depression in the blink of an eye. Obsessing about the good review as I thought, about damn time! Obsessing about the bad review as I thought, idiots just didn’t get it! Review? What review? I’m too busy writing to care about reviews. Before I give the answer, you might guess what the HEALTHY option would be. Answer: 3  Of course I obsessed about the bad review. The good reviews occasion a grin for five minutes on and off throughout the day. The bad review makes me stomp around for days because I struggle to get past it. At this point, bipolar would be a more balanced approach. Ignoring reviews …

OMG, It’s Monday with Jade Lee/ Kathy Lyons

Whose feet are those anyway? This is an important week for me. Tomorrow is release day for The Makeover Mistake by Kathy Lyons. So what’s at the forefront of my brain? Do I look fat in these jeans? I mean, I lost weight, but then I gained some back but not all of it. So now I don’t know if I’m supposed to be hiding my muffin top or glorying that its smaller. OMG, what are the reviews? Will anyone buy it? I’ve had over 40 releases, why is this one still as hard as the first? *peering out from writing cave* Is something going on out in the real world? No? Yes? Nevermind. *slinks back inside* What a strange cover. I’m always looking at the guy’s red underwear, but then I looked at my name only to see the feet behind it. Is there a deeper meaning to the …

OMG It’s St Patricks’s Day w/Jade Lee

So if you’re on my Facebook or Twitter feed, you’ve already seen this picture. But I don’t care. I ordered some promotional items and I think they’re fabulous. I case you’re looking at this on a tiny screen, they’re a mousepad and a mug. I even got the LARGE sized mug if people drink coffee like I do. That’s been one of the advantages of going decaf. I can now drink as much as I want. And apparently, that’s a lot! Guess how I got the idea of this slogan. If you can’t read it, the caption is MY WEEKEND PLANS Then the woman is saying: Look deeply into my eyes. Now take off all your clothes So, I got that idea by That’s what my weekend plans ALWAYS are. Have you seen my husband? The cover was so pretty, I had to do something with it. And come onwhat …

OMG, it’s Monday w/Jade Lee #9

OMG, it’s Monday w/Jade Lee #9 and we are talking about my new art piece! So while on vacation I saw a piece of art that I adored. I resonated deeply with it and ended up buying it. It was A dolphin with a silly, happy expression on its face A painting of Minnie giving Mickey a less than polite gesture. Manchest. Duh! Sculpted into a statue that I can fondle at will. A picture of a faceless person wandering through the forest. Answer: 4. Yup, I bought The Search by MacKenzie Thorpe. He’s an artist I’ve admired for a while, but this piece really spoke to me. It reminds me that unless I’m looking backwards, I have no idea what kind of joy, color, or disaster I’ve left in my wake. Every once in a while, I ought to look and see what I’ve left behind. But for the bulk …
