So what do you think?

  1. I decided that history is unimportant and boring.
  2. I had so much fun writing bear-shifters that I forgot all about fancy balls and dancing with dukes.
  3. I needed to go outside of historicals to really explore some different aspects of my writer voice. After bear shifters, baseball erotics, and werewolf geeks, I could bring a lighter, more fun voice to my historicals.
  4. My muse wandered elsewhere. It took forever for her to come back to historicals! But boy am I glad she did!

The answer is 4. My muse just wandered elsewhere. No matter how I tried to get excited about historicals, she just wouldn’t go there. So I wrote a baseball series, a bear-shifter series, and even the soon to launch Were-Geeks Save the World series. But then—quite abruptly—Dragonblade offered me a slot in the Lyon’s Den world and within a day, I had a story. Go figure.
