I am not big into police procedurals. Honestly, I’m not clever enough to follow the clues to find the murderer. It’s why I don’t read a lot of mysteries. If Murder She Wrote challenges my mental faculties, a tv show based on books by Michael Connelly is going to be too complicated for me to enjoy. Or so I thought.

On the recommendation of my friend Cindy Dees, we tried it. My husband loved it! We’re already finishing Season 4. (We started binging it last weekend). I do wish the lead character would smile every once and again, but he’s a hard boiled detective doing the best he can in a difficult world. What I love most is how he interacts with his daughter, ex-wife, and his lieutenant (all women). There’s fun banter between lots of characters. There are even two cops nicknamed Crate and Barrell. I realize that credit goes to Michael Connelly, but it takes great scriptwriting and great acting to fully bring a tv series home. So in this case, credit is shared. I highly recommend this series from amazon.
